Eligibility

To qualify for an E-type (Ordinary) Visa:

  • You must be 18 years or older with plans to work, start a business, or live off foreign income.
  • No minimum income is required for entry.
  • A work permit is mandatory for local employment.
  • Those living off foreign income can obtain a visa extension via an agent, who can also assist with work permit arrangements.

How to Apply for a Cambodian Business Visa

Hereโ€™s how to start:

  1. Get an E-Type Visa (Ordinary Visa) Online or on Arrival:
    • Apply for an Ordinary Visa (E Visa, $35) at www.evisa.gov.kh before arriving in Cambodia.
      • Approval takes 1-3 days.
    • You can also get an E Visa on arrival at Cambodian airports or border crossings.
      • Bring $35 in crisp USD bills, preferably exact change.
    • Ensure you select “Ordinary Visa,” not “Tourist Visa.”
  2. Enter Cambodia:
    • The E Visa is valid for 30 days.
    • Before it expires, you must apply for a Visa Extension of Stay (EOS).
  3. Extend Your Visa:
    • Visit a visa agency in Phnom Penh, Siem Reap, Kampot, or Sihanoukville.
    • Agents can arrange extensions and required documents, including a work permit (if needed).

Visa Extension of Stay (EOS) Categories & Requirements

The EB (Business/Employment) EOS is the most common extension for working professionals and business owners. Available options:

  • 1, 3, 6, or 12-month extensions.
  • 6 & 12-month EOS include multiple entry/exit privileges.

Each EOS category has specific documentation requirements. The minimum requirements are:

  • Passport valid for at least 18 months beyond the requested extension period.
  • At least two blank visa pages.
  • 1 passport photo.
  • Completed EOS application form (provided by agents).
  • FPCS registration screenshot (Foreigner Presence in Cambodia System).
    • Ask this from your landlord / property manager.

Additional Requirements for Business Visa Extensions:

  • For a 12-month EB EOS:
    • You must provide a Work Permit, Employment Letter, and Company Patent Tax License*.
  • For a 6-month EB EOS:
    • An Employment Letter and Company Patent Tax License are required*.
  • For a 3-month EP EOS (Proposal Visa):
    • No job documents required, but EP EOS visa cannot be renewed.
  • Subsequent renewals:
    • A Work Permit is mandatory for further EB EOS extensions*.

*Talk to your visa agent if you don’t have these. They can provide needed documents for extra fee.

Costs vary based on extension type and location:

  • E Visa (online or on arrival): $35.
  • 1-month EOS: $45 – $55.
  • 3-month EOS: $70 – $90.
  • 6-month EOS: $150 – $170.
  • 12-month EOS: $270 – $300.
  • Official fee for a 12-month EOS at the Immigration Office: $180 (strict requirements apply).
  • Express processing fee: Additional $70 – $100 (next-day service via an agent).

Visa Annual Renewal

  • Renewable in-country โ€“ no need to exit Cambodia.
  • Handled via agents (recommended) or at the Department of Immigration (DoI) in Phnom Penh.
